Briefly introduce the structural characteristics of welding robots

Date:2021-09-27 Views:614

Welding robots are industrial robots engaged in welding (including cutting and spraying). According to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), industrial robots belong to the definition of standard welding robots. Industrial robots are a versatile, reprogrammable automatic control manipulator with three or more programmable axes, used in the field of industrial automation.

In order to adapt to different purposes, the mechanical interface of the last axis of the robot is usually a connecting flange, which can be used to connect different tools or end effectors. Welding robots are equipped with welding tongs or welding (cutting) guns on the end flange of industrial robots, enabling them to perform welding, cutting, or thermal spraying. Welding robots mainly include two parts: robots and welding equipment.

The robot consists of a robot body and a control cabinet (hardware and software). Welding equipment, such as arc welding and spot welding, consists of welding power supply (including its control system), wire feeder (arc welding), welding gun (clamp), and other components. For intelligent robots, there should also be sensing systems, such as laser or camera sensors and their control devices.

The welding robots produced in various countries around the world are basically joint robots, with the vast majority having 6 axes. Among them, axes 1, 2, and 3 can send end tools to different spatial positions, while axes 4, 5, and 6 address different requirements for tool posture. The mechanical structure of the welding robot body mainly has two forms: one is a parallelogram structure, and the other is a side mounted (pendulum) structure.
